At Ethos, our mission is to help people live their best lives, not just through access to medical marijuana products and education, but also through a supportive and caring community. As dedicated supporters of and advocates for diversity and inclusion, we understand the role that acceptance and compassion plays in every facet of daily life. As a result, we work hard at every Ethos location to ensure that each customer, patient, and associate has a comfortable, affirming dispensary experience.
Part of that experience means ensuring that you feel welcome here. Particularly, trans, non-binary, and others who identify as LGBTQIA+ are welcome to be their whole selves here. That includes ensuring that your name and pronouns are respected, even if they don’t align with what’s listed on a government-issued ID or medical marijuana card.
The name you choose to use is important to us. When our associates get to know you as an individual, we can better guide you to products that can help you feel better. And the cornerstone of building that relationship is one of trust, care, and dignity. Whatever your preferred name and correct pronouns, Ethos associates want to welcome you with your true identity at heart.
Like all dispensaries, Ethos Dispensary is required by law to ask you to produce a government-issued ID before entering the facility. If you’re a medical marijuana patient, we need to see your state-issued certification as well. If these IDs don’t match the name and pronouns you use every day, please inform the dispensary so associates can notate the proper name to call you by and the right pronouns to use.
There are three simple ways to do so:
- Tell the associates at the front desk. Visitors to any Ethos locations can tell the Ethos associate at the front desk that their name and pronouns don’t match what is on their government-issued ID. Let the Ethos associate on staff know upon check-in that you go by a different name and different pronouns than what’s listed. A note is then made in your profile, which can be seen by other dispensary associates later on in that visit and upon future visits.
- Call the dispensary before you visit. If you wish to avoid a face-to-face conversation at the front desk, you can call the dispensary ahead of time. During this conversation, you can let the dispensary know you’re coming and that you want to make sure the staff knows your correct name and pronouns. You can find your local Ethos dispensary phone number on our website.
- Order online for pickup. When you use Ethos’s online ordering to place a pickup order, you will be able to enter your name and pronouns. When our associates receive your order, it will be tied to the name and pronouns you entered online. And, when you come in to pick up your medical marijuana products, the team will be ready to greet you accordingly.
We strive to be a place where everyone feels welcomed, accepted, and appreciated because there is no other way to be. If you’re concerned about being called by the wrong name or the wrong pronouns being used, please let us know, and we will do our part to make the dispensary visit an enjoyable, comfortable, and safe experience for you.
