Dosing Guide
This recipe makes about 52 gummies, if using a standard gummy bear mold.
To calculate dosing, refer to the packaging of the medical marijuana product you chose to use to determine how many milligrams of THC are in one dropper or 1 milliliter, then use this formula:
# of 1ml droppers added x 5mg THC added (consult product packaging) / # of gummies = amount of THC per gummy
Long-lasting Effects
If your primary reason to eat medical marijuana gummies is to relax, then you’ll want to try your hand at cooking these up. Many consumers feel intensely relaxing effects for up to 8 hours after munching on medical marijuana gummies. Of course, THC content will play a huge role in your response, so keep this in mind when selecting a medical marijuana tincture.
Customizing Your Gummies
There are countless ways to customize your medical marijuana gummies so they have the taste and texture you prefer. Here are a few ideas for inspiration:
- To make low-sugar gummies, swap out the gelatin dessert and water for three ounces of unflavored gelatin and your favorite fruit juice.
- For extra-sweet gummies, swap out the water for fruit juice or soda and experiment with different flavor combinations like cherry gelatin dessert and cola.
- Puree your favorite fruit and add it to the mix for intensified flavor. Depending on your choice of fruit, your gummies could be extra sweet or a tad tart.
- Add edible glitter to make your gummies sparkle.
Storage Tips for Medical Marijuana Gummies
Storing your gummies in an airtight container in the refrigerator is key to keeping them fresh for as long as possible. Avoid warm or bright places (like a coat pocket or windowsill) when storing the gummies for more than an hour or so at a time. Keeping medical marijuana gummies in a cool, dark location ensures that the potency of the cannabinoids (namely CBD and THC) stays locked in.
And this should go without saying, but keep your homemade medical marijuana gummies far, far away from children and pets.
