Ethos Cares September 2024 Events and Initiatives

In September, Ethos Cares continued its commitment to making a positive difference in the community through various volunteer initiatives. From supporting veteran organizations to raising awareness about mental health and participating in fundraising events for cancer research and disease awareness, Ethos Cares volunteers were actively involved in a wide range of impactful activities. Let’s take a closer look at the inspiring volunteer efforts and their significant impact on the community.

Out of the Darkness Walk

Ethos Cares walked with the community to raise awareness about mental health and suicide prevention. Volunteers wore honor beads to symbolize our connections to the cause, each color representing a different loss or struggle. It was a powerful experience filled with moments of connection and a shared commitment to making a difference.

VALOR

Ethos Cares continued volunteering in September with VALOR, a veteran support group. The Hazleton team helped remodel a property that will become a transitional house for vets. Our volunteers also helped by participating in VALOR’s Stand Downs, which provides clothing, food, and a hot meal to the veteran homeless population.

Autism Speaks Field Day for All

The Autism Speaks Field Day for All was a celebration of the light that shines in every person with autism and the community that supports them. Ethos Cares helped set up and assisted with yard games while making great connections with the community.

Paint the Planet Pink 5k Run

The Paint the Planet Pink 5K Run was a huge success, bringing the community together to raise funds and awareness for cancer research. Both Albert Martino and Andrew Chang from Wikes-Barre demonstrated exceptional athleticism and spirit. Albert won a first-place medal for his age division with an impressive time of 25 minutes 30 seconds!

Light the Night Walk

The Light the Night Walk supported The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and raised funds for blood cancer research. Walk participants carried illuminated lanterns, walking in unity to honor survivors, remember those lost, and provide hope to those battling the disease. The evening was filled with emotional moments and a strong sense of community as everyone came together to shine a light on the darkness of cancer.

The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s®

The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s® is the world’s largest fundraiser for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research. This inspiring event called on participants of all ages and abilities to join the fight against the disease. Our volunteers walked with Promise Garden flowers in different colors that best represented their connection to the disease, including honoring our team members’ nanas.

ALS United Mid-Atlantic and ALS Hope Foundation

Ethos Cares volunteers participated in two walks (even in the rain!) to support organizations that strive to improve the quality of life for people with ALS: ALS United Mid-Atlantic and the ALS Hope Foundation.
