From celebrating our furry friends to advocating for mental health, each initiative Ethos Cares supported demonstrated the power of compassion, caring, and community. Here’s a look at the October activities we participated in that positively impacted our neighborhoods and beyond.
SPCA Walk for The Animals
Our Wilkes-Barre team participated in the 33rd annual SPCA Walk for the Animals at Francis Slocum State Park. The event was a wonderful gathering of animal lovers dedicated to supporting the Luzerne County SPCA. Participants in the walk enjoyed a scenic route, made many furry four-legged friends, and even won some fantastic raffle baskets! While most dog owners left their pets at home, John brought along his 13-year-old Yorkie, Zoey, who received a blessing during the ‘Blessing of the Animals’ ceremony.
Out of the Darkness Walk
Ethos Cares joined their community this month in the Out of the Darkness Walk. These events give people the courage to open up about their connections to the cause and a platform to create a smarter culture about mental health. Friends, family members, neighbors, and coworkers walk side-by-side, supporting each other and in memory of those we’ve lost.
Savage Sisters Gala
Savage Sisters offers resources to the Philadelphia community for individuals living with or affected by substance use disorder. In October, they hosted a masquerade ball event called “Worth Saving 2024.” Ethos Cares attended this beautiful fundraising event to support the outreach program.
NEPA Adopt-a-Highway
October marked the one-year anniversary of our NEPA adopted highway. Our teams from Wilkes-Barre and Hazleton collaborated at this location on Route 309 in Mountain Top, PA. They volunteered their time and effort to positively impact the community and the environment, collecting over five trash bags from the roadside.
Tell Cancer to Take a Hike
We joined thousands of people around the globe in telling cancer to #TAKEAHIKE! We hiked and walked with our friends, pets, and family to raise funds for SurvivingBreastCancer.org. SBC was founded in 2017 by a young breast cancer survivor with a mission to empower those diagnosed with breast cancer and support their families from day one and beyond.
