What is a caregiver?
Caregivers are individuals that may legally serve patients who are unable to obtain medical marijuana products without assistance. Caregivers are not the practitioner who certified the patient. The caregiver will register on the individual’s behalf and visit the dispensary for them.
Who can serve as a caregiver?
Caregivers are individuals who are 21 years or older. Caregivers must register with the Department of Health and follow instructions to complete a background check.
Who can have a caregiver?
Any patient can designate a caregiver if they so choose. All minors are required to have a caregiver.
Examples of people who could benefit from a caregiver would be:
- Minors
- Adult patients who are homebound
- Adult patients who benefit from assistance (e.g., nonverbal, do not make their own medical decisions)
Does a caregiver have to be a patient?
No.
How many patients can one caregiver serve?
A registered caregiver may have up to five patients and a patient can have up to two caregivers.
What is the Philadelphia Caregiver Drop-Off Program?
The Ethos Caregiver Drop-Off Program* provides our patients with access to their medical marijuana products without ever having to come to the dispensary. Our service brings the Ethos experience to our valued patients and will make our medical marijuana products more easily accessible to those patients in need.
*This program is currently only available for our patients in the Philadelphia area.
